Charles Rennie Mackintosh drawings brought to life Charles
Rennie Mackintosh is universally acknowledged as an icon of Art
Nouveau and for his major contribution to modern art. His associations
with the Arts and Crafts Movement of the late nineteenth and early
twentieth century, and later links with the art scene in Continental
For the first time, furniture built to his precise design by the same craftsmen whose work now stands on permanent exhibition in the House for an Art Lover, Glasgow, Scotland is being made available (by commission) to discerning collectors. It was in 1900 that Rennie Mackintosh and his wife entered the now famous competition to design a 'House for an Art Lover' whilst on a visit to Vienna. The resulting masterpiece of architecture and interior design remained in the form of detailed drawings for almost a century, only being brought to life in 1996 in the construction of the House for an Art Lover in the artists home town of Glasgow, Scotland. Creations' craftsmen were commissioned by the world renowned Glasgow
School of Art to build the dining room suite for the Mackintosh Creations have remained true to the vision displayed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in his original drawings for the House for an Art Lover. Like the furniture in the artist's own home, the House for an Art Lover Dining Room Suite is designed for real life.
